Mirage song - Doomsday

I believe I must be like hundred thousand years too late to make this discovery, but Gackt‘s Dooms Day makes one perfect Naoe  >> Takaya song. Not only does the addressing in the song fit Naoe’s way of speaking (as far as I can tell), but the imagery, the themes and metaphors, are so similar to the story that it’s scary. This impression is even intensified by the music themes, which keep shifting abruptly from peaceful and gentle to raw and violent, just perfectly reflecting the dichotomy of Naoe’s behaviour towards Takaya. Or maybe it’s just me over-analyzing things.

Anyway, most surprising is that there seems to be no Mirage AMV made to Doomsday, not even by Japanese fans…

Author: Gackt Camui

Translation: Mina-P

The pretty moon is smiling
In the quiet night, it's laughing
Once more, I murmured
Your name...

Above the scattered glass
A cold wind is dancing
I await your return
Before falling into sleep...

My shouting voice resounds
And I embrace your unforgivable sins

I saw your dream
The dream you can't awaken from
While leaning against the windowsill
And being softly embraced by the moon

Your shouting voice stops
And my unforgivable crime continues
Your heart, your arms, your voice... everything
Until we love each other, until it drives us mad, I hold you who I love too much
I destroyed over and over again...

Does it reach you now?
His kind voice
Can you see it?
Your arm, dyed red...

While shaking, the last sound is erased
While weeping for our unforgivable sins
Ephemeral dreams, sorrowful dreams, painful dreams announce the end
Into gentle dreams, into beloved dreams, like that day, like that time...

Doomsday? (racks brain to remember how the song goes) arrgh! (opens her Gackt folder n listens) oh! You meant that song! Yes, yes, now i remember. And i call myself a Gackt fan =_=;

pardon my short term memory lost, im sorry to say that Doomsday isnt really among my top fav. Yeah, im those people who likes the foreign song cuz of sound, not cuz of lyrics. But off course i love most of Gackt's songs.

ive always thought the suitable song for our Naoe and Takaya is Last Song. I once saw at youtube of a mirage amv with that song. Its so sad and the song stirs more toward Naoe's love to kagetora around post book 20 i guess.

other Gackt songs also remind me of other animes.. But im not in the mood of talking about it now that we're warmin up about our couple ^.^

btw, this may sound sudden, how deep do you know about Kuwabara-sensei's 2 other works ILLEGENES and DIVINE RED?

I absolutely love some of Gackt's songs, while other leave me completely indifferent. So I don't know if I can call myself his fan, but he is one of my favourite Japanese musicians, for sure.
I must say, though, that I find his performance (like on the stage, in Moonchild and Fuurin Kazan) over-acted to the point of being more funny than cool...but I guess you are expected to do all kinds of weird things once you are j-pop/rock idol.
Anyway, at least, unlike many Japanese singers, he CAN do music :)
As for Devine Red, I have read a good deal of quaint_twilight-sans summaries, and decided I have no energy to focus on yet another convoluted angst feast, so I've put it off, untill I have more free time, and possibly better Japanese skills.

in fuurinkazan, i found Gackt-san's acting quite....stiff. and i can't help but giggle at how he acts compared to the other professional actors (shh, don't tell this to the Gackt community, they may run down my place)

as for Divine Red.

(.....shivers......)

I love Renjou!!

(hangs the laarge portrait of Hibiki Renjou next to her Naoe portrait in her shrine)

b-b-but! im also intrigued and God-is-he-cruel-but-sexy to Haibara!

(place his statue next to kagetora's)

and Kei! Kei is such a.....aww, i feel like giving him a bear hug! the poor thing (squeeze him in her arms)

and the fact that the novels are illustrated by my FAV manga-ka is icing the cake.

i'll just send you a message to prevent me from ranting more and from making me going out of Gackt topic okay?

Thanks for this. Oddly, I was just pondering how I'd like to find some good Mirage music in Japanese, and lo you hand it to me:-)

Despite the advantage of Japanese language and poetics, it seems hard to find songs that would fit mirage in my understanding. Most of Japanese music just lacks that kind of drive. Sigh, I am probably too picky...

I discovered Gackt's music when I saw a MoB AMV featuring "Tsuki no Uta".The author of the AMV matched the anime with the song lyrics perfectly.
I have to admit that "Doomsday" is not one of my fav Gackt's songs, but now that you so kindly posted the translated the lyrics...The do fit the MoB universe!
AS you said some of Gackt's songs are great and some make me wanna scream. He seems to me the kind that likes artifice, but he does have a great singing voice and some great lyrics.Have you ever heard "Orange no Taiyo"?
This is a Gackt video where he sings "Shima Uta"(Island Song). The lyrics are translated and the song is so great.Watch it and tell me what you think.
Sorry if I went off topic here.

Oh, I have to check out Tsuki no uta and Orange no taiyo :)

I know Shima uta well, I used to sing it in choir at grammar school XD. I think I still remember the lyrics by heart, lol.
But this video of him is indeed very old...yet it shows he really has a good voice, even in folk songs. He deviates slightly from the original at some parts, but generally has much deeper 'feel' to his expression, don't you think?

You were singing Shima Uta during grammar school?XD
My love for Japanese started in 2007 after watching MoB.
"...but generally has a much deeper 'feel' to his expression"...Indeed.
Both Tsuki no Uta and Orange no Taiyo have great lyrics. The 2nd one is a duet with Hyde.

Here they are.I added Sayonara & Hoshi no Suna because I think they kinda suit the MoB universe.

Thank you very much for these links :)
I now remember, Orenji no Taiyo is the song they sang in Moonchild, right? Lol, I still have trouble recognizing which voice belongs to whom. XDDD
You are right, the lyrics fit mirage very well. I don't know...is it just Gackt's own poetism, or do also other Japanese artists compose in the way that their works seem to apply to mirage??

I first discovered Gackt's music when I was watching a MoB AMV on youtube as you know and it was love at 1st "sight" so to speak.
I don't know if it's only Gackt, but most Japanese love songs I've listened to convey this feeling of sadness & longing.
The same happened to me when I listened to Haru no Katami, sung by Hajime Chitose.Do you know the song? When I first heard I was like "This has Fuyu no Semi written all over it"(another Japanese sad BL story)And so my Fuyu no Semi AMV was born.
Here is the link to the AMV.Watch it and tell me your opinion, will you?
Going off topic again.Sorry about that.

Yes, I noticed that in Japanese aesthetics, the uttermost beauty seems inseparable from great sadness and pain, which often stems from realizing the impermanence and emptiness of these phenomena...very buddhist-like feeling, ne? Haru no Katami is typical example, at least in my understanding. Almost as if there couldn't really exist a love without death...I've fallen for the song since first I heard it in Ayakashi ending, Hajime's voice is very captivating. But somehow the verse
"Anata no mune ni kono mi o makase,
watashi wa shinde yukou."
brings me the mental image of Senoku no Yoru, and always makes me just a bit depressed, I can't help it. T_T

Huh, it never occured to me it would be so suit for Fuyu no Semi, but you are absolutely right!! It goes nicely with it's melancholia and tragedy, as well as with the traditional samurai themes. Winter Cicada is my favourite yaoi anime, one that is beautiful and has some idea to it, aside from smut XD. It is fairly similar to mirage, but much (sorry for the simile) 'sharper' in the way it executes its plot turns as well as the protagonists. Thank you for this nice AMW :)

Glad you liked it.The muse was on my side on this one occasion.
